Description: Long ago, Jeanne had a lover whom goes by the name of Noin. However, fate intervened and did not allow for them to stay together. For Jeanne must stay pure to fullfill her duties. Noin still loved her very much even under the circumstances. He was always by her side in combat. When Jeanne was burned alive, he couldn't bear it, and cursed God for not doing anything to help her. Noin, saddened and angered, sold his soul to the devil in order to watch over Jeanne's reincarnation, Maron. He watched as Maron grows up, until the day she finds out she is Jeanne's reincarnation, and finally makes his appearance. Sadly, Maron isn't the same Jeanne as before. As a result, he became a History teacher at her school to watch over her.

WARNING: SPOILER
Anime version: In the anime, Noin wasn't in love with Maron. Noin, as Shikaidou-sensei (teacher), tried to gain Maron's trust. As soon as her trust has been fulfilled, he will try to kill her, in order for Jeanne's soul to be free.

Manga version: In the manga, Noin was indeed in love with Maron. He tries to make love to her so she will become impure. Thus, she will not be able to complete her duties as Jeanne. Although that might sound cruel, Noin was trying to help Maron by helping her escape the same fate that Jeanne endured.
